Washington Post Features Steppingstone LLC Client in Three Stories on Memorial Day

TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, was featured in three stories in the Washington Post on Memorial Day - a stirring testimony to the organization's work with surviving families of our fallen military heroes. "A Life Lost, a Plan Derailed, a Fiance Left in Limbo," by William Wan, profiled Kyle Harper, a survivor who lost her fiance to an IED in Iraq. "Families Affected by Suicide: Feel Sting on Memorial Day," by Steve Vogel, talked with surviving families of military suicide. "Truth and Death in a Quiet Room," by John Kelly, visited an emotionally-wrenching workshop at the TAPS national seminar, which poses the question: did my loved one suffer?
NCMEC Congressional Breakfast on Capitol Hill Raises Awareness

The annual Congressional Breakfast for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children on capitol hill honors law enforcement for their exceptional work finding and helping missing and exploited children. Guests included Elizabeth Smart, John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted and his wife, Reve Walsh. That was our Ami, stage right, keeping the program script in order. She also did outreach work to news media to share stories about the honorees.
Policy Changes Media Access to Return of Fallen War Dead

When the Pentagon announced a policy change permitting media to photograph the arrival ceremonies for fallen war dead at Dover Air Force Base, American Journalism Review published this insightful story “A Veil is Lifted,” questioning whether anything would really change. Harvard University Conference: A Time for Inspiration

Attending “AFTERMATH: Journalism and Storytelling in the Aftermath of Tragedy” at Harvard University proved to be an insightful conference for Steppingstone LLC. “It’s rare in my profession that I can find a reflective time to both grow professionally and build relationships with journalists,” said Neiberger-Miller. “I left the conference inspired to continue the work I am doing.”
Coalition for Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans Meeting: Laying a Foundation
January 2009
The Coalition of Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans meeting in San Francisco helped lay the framework for the organization’s upcoming May conference, with Ami contributing ideas on media relations and publicity, as well as policy advocacy. While Ami was in San Francisco, she also coordinated a client interview with ABC World News back in Washington, and dealt with situations involving National Public Radio and Salon.com. Oy. What a week to be out of town.
America Inaugurates President Barack Obama - And We Are Part of the Celebration!

With the nation inspired by the impending presidential inauguration of Barack Obama and the nation’s capital city awash in inauguration fever, Ami was busy advising clients on media opportunities, fundraisers, and even ticket distribution. And yes – we attended the swearing-in ceremonies and the Commander-in-Chief’s ball. It was the experience of a lifetime!
