Class Action Lawsuit Seeks Justice for OIF/OEF Vets with PTSD
December 2008
To help veterans returning with PTSD from Iraq and Afghanistan, the Lawyers Serving Warriors project at the National Veterans Legal Services Program filed a class action lawsuit against the US Army over disability ratings assigned to soldiers with PTSD. The press conference announcing the lawsuit was held at the National Press Club and coordinated by Steppingstone LLC. CNN streamed live with Barbara Starr reporting, while National Public Radio, CBS Evening News, WUSA Channel 9, and Cox Television networks were rolling.
Raising Funds to Help Abused Children
October 2008
The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Steppingstone LLC donated photography services for the annual gala fundraiser at the Belmont Country Club in Loudoun County benefiting programs for abused children offered by the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter. We also designed a powerpoint presentation featuring auction items - including some yummy vacations and jewelry!

Film Premiere for HBO's "Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery"
October 2008
A film premiere in downtown Washington was organized by Steppingstone LLC for HBO’s “Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery” in conjunction with TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. The film chronicles the community of grieving families at Arlington National Cemetery who have lost loved ones serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
NCMEC Opens Regional Office in Texas

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children opened a new regional office in Texas, and Steppingstone’s Ami Neiberger-Miller coordinated logistics and was on-hand to help with press for the event.
Getting It Right is Crucial When Dealing with Grief

Advice for media on working with trauma survivors is offered by Ami Neiberger-Miller in an interview with psychologist and Fulbright scholar Olga Kravtsova. The interview was published in “Stress Points,” the newsletter produced by the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. Neiberger-Miller and Kravtsova will participate in a panel discussion at Columbia University on April 23 about this topic.

Innovation in Homeless Outreach Profiled

The January/February 2008 issue of Rescue magazine features “It Takes a Village” by Ami Neiberger-Miller, a profile of the Orange County Rescue Mission’s new Village of Hope facility providing comprehensive services to homeless families. The magazine is published by the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions.

The article recounts Ami Neiberger-Miller's experiences managing media relations after her brother's death in Iraq in August 2007. This new campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence and child abuse hit the ground running. Designed by Ami Neiberger-Miller, the campaign began collecting hundreds of pledge ribbons and organized an inter-faith vigil.
